Italian Seasoning

Every now and then I run across recipes that call for Italian seasoning.  Now I know what the most used herbs and spices are used in Italian recipes, but I was never certain exactly what constitutes the Italian blend.  It turns out the blend can vary, but the ones presented here are the most common.  So, thanks to Cooks Illustrated, here is a blend you can make and store away for those times when you need it.

Ingredients

2½ Tablespoons dried Mediterranean oregano
2½ Tablespoons dried thyme
1 Tablespoon dried basil
1 tablespoon dried sage
1 Tablespoon dried rosemary

Mix all the herbs together and store away with your other seasonings.
